What this site tracks

Most websites set dozens of cookies the moment you arrive. Advertising IDs, analytics trackers, session replay scripts, retargeting pixels. This site sets none, runs no analytics, and the way to check that is below rather than to take our word.

Corrected 22 August 2026. The previous version described two cookies and an analytics product, none of which this site uses.

Checked 22 August 2026. An earlier version of this page listed a cf_clearance cookie set by Cloudflare bot protection. Cloudflare runs the DNS for this domain but does not proxy the traffic, so it never sees a request and never sets that cookie. The claim was wrong in the direction of making the site sound more defended than it is, which is the worse direction, so it is called out here rather than quietly deleted.

Analytics

None at all. No analytics package is installed, no measurement script runs, and nothing counts page views, referrers, regions or device types. Until 22 August 2026 this section said otherwise, in some detail, and it was wrong.

The practical consequence is worth stating plainly, because it cuts against us. We do not know which of these pages anyone reads. That is a real cost to running the site well, and if it changes, this section and the privacy policy change in the same commit as the code that changes it.

What we do not use

We made a deliberate decision not to install any of the following. This is not because we forgot. It is because these tools collect data about you that we do not need and do not want.

Google Analytics

Tracks individual users across sessions and sites. Links browsing history to advertising profiles. Sends data to Google servers in the US.

Facebook Pixel

_fbp, fr, tr

Tracks you across every site that has the pixel installed. Builds a shadow profile of your interests for ad targeting. Active even if you do not have a Facebook account.

Advertising and retargeting

IDE, test_cookie, NID, DSID, FLC, AID, TAID

Follow you across the internet to serve targeted ads based on pages you have visited. Multiple companies, multiple trackers, all synchronised.

Session replay

not installed

Hotjar, FullStory, LogRocket, Clarity

Records your mouse movements, clicks, scrolls, and keystrokes. Replays your entire session as a video for the site operator. Some capture form inputs.

Social media widgets

Varies by platform

Embedded share buttons, comment systems, and login widgets that track you even if you never click them. Each one phones home to its parent company.

Why there is no cookie banner

Cookie banners exist because UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, Regulation 6) requires consent before setting non-essential cookies. Sites that track you need your permission first. The banner is the permission mechanism.

This site only sets essential cookies that are strictly necessary for it to function. No consent is required for essential cookies under PECR. No banner is needed because there is nothing to consent to.

If we ever add non-essential cookies in the future, a consent mechanism will appear before they are set.

Your browser controls

You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking the Cloudflare cookie may trigger repeated bot checks. The site will still work, but page loads may be slower.
